Empty Bowls Detroit 2026
A charity event raising funds to help fight hunger
Each ticket includes a choice of one handmade ceramic bowl and two servings of soup
One Bowl,
Shared Purpose
Celebrating 36 years, Empty Bowls returns to its roots in metro Detroit, offering an opportunity to reinvigorate the movement for a new generation.
At its heart, the event is simple and powerful: guests receive a handmade ceramic bowl and a meal in exchange for a donation. The empty ceramic bowl each donor takes home serves as a lasting reminder that while we share a meal together, thousands of people still face empty bowls every day.
Ending Hunger Together
Proceeds from Empty Bowls Detroit 2026 support Gleaners Community Food Bank’s mission to achieve hunger-free communities.

Bringing Together Artistry & Community
Empty Bowls is a globally recognized community art and food initiative that brings people together to raise funds and awareness around food insecurity. Leading up to the event, artists and studios across Michigan are hosting bowl-making events, uniting communities statewide in a shared effort rooted in generosity and care.
Culinary artists are also central to the Empty Bowls mission. Detroit’s most respected chefs, restaurants, and food leaders have been invited to participate by preparing food that reflects the creativity and caliber of our city’s culinary scene.
All ticket sale proceeds will go to Gleaners Community Food Bank, with additional funds supporting local nonprofit organizations working to strengthen food access across Metro Detroit, addressing both immediate hunger relief and the long-term health of our regional food system.
